The clinics help many more through health promotion programs. As a result of these efforts, healthier children are spending more time in school and are better able to learn. Healthier adults are better able to work, care for their families, and participate in their communities.
2. Our Clinics Provide a Safety Net for Everyone. Many people who use our services are uninsured, have limited health coverage, or are distrustful of government programs. Our clinics provide them with confidential medical and dental services. We make patients feel at home, so they are comfortable visiting for ongoing care. The Consortium’s clinics thereby reduce inappropriate use and overcrowding of the County’s emergency rooms.
3. Our Clinics Save Local Dollars. Every year, our clinics attract millions of dollars in outside funding to support local health care services. These funds help low-income individuals get the right health care at the right time. Without the community clinics, County government would bear significantly higher health care costs, since the County is legally mandated to provide indigent care when no other options are available.
4. We Stand for Community and Jobs. Our clinics are governed by local community boards and employ hundreds of County residents. These strong ties to the community mean that our clinics reflect local values and pride, and provide exceptional, culturally sensitive health services.
5. Our Leaders Speak Out for a Healthy Tomorrow. Consortium leaders actively promote community health by advocating for improved access to primary care and preventive health care services. Together with our community partners, we are working toward the day when better health care is in everyone’s reach.
