Mission and History

Mission

The mission of Community Clinic Consortium is to promote and improve the health and quality of life for all Contra Costa and Solano County residents. The Consortium is dedicated to supporting the involvement of communities in developing a responsive health care system and articulating and advancing the role of community health centers.

History

Community clinic directors began meeting informally in 1999 to address challenges and opportunities in community health care. Funding from The California Endowment and Kaiser Permanente allowed the Consortium to hire staff and begin its formal operation in June 2001. The Consortium was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 2004.

In the fall of 2006, the Consortium expanded to Solano County in order to better serve the member clinics. This was a natural and logical progression in that two of the three Contra Costa County community clinic members (La Clínica de La Raza and Planned Parenthood: Shasta-Diablo) had clinics in Solano County as well. Community Clinic Consortium of Contra Costa joined with Community Medical Centers, along with the existing clinic members, La Clínica and Planned Parenthood, and became Community Clinic Consortium. Community Clinic Consortium, now serving Contra Costa and Solano Counties, has four member clinics (including Brookside Community Health Center) that operate twenty clinic sites.

An estimated 4,260 children under 19 in Contra Costa are uninsured.
