Jane Garcia
Chief Executive Officer, La Clinica de la Raza
Jane García has led La Clínica de La Raza since she became CEO in 1983. La Clínica has grown from a $2 million dollar project to an over $92 million dollar institution. La Clínica employs over 800 staff and serves over 74,000 patients across 30 sites in Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano Counties. La Clínica is one of the largest community health clinics in the state of California.
Ms. García is an advocate and activist with a passion for preserving community health care for all residents regardless of ability to pay. Her commitment to community health care has been recognized on numerous occasions. The most recent of which include La Clínica’s recognition as a “Public Health Hero-Organizational Hero Award” from UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health and Ms. García’s recognition by the San Francisco Business Times as a Healthcare Hero in the Community Impact category.
Ms. García received a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University and a Masters in Public Health from the University of California at Berkeley.
Marty Lynch, Ph.D.
Chief Executive Officer, LifeLong Medical Care
Marty Lynch is the Executive Director/CEO of LifeLong Medical Care. He has been the Director of LifeLong and the Over 60 Health Center since 1982, and a non-profit administrator for over 30 years. Dr. Lynch co-founded the Elderly Sub-committee of the National Association of Community Health Centers and is past Chair of the California Primary Care Association. He recently completed serving on the state task force to examine policy changes necessary for the integration of primary care and mental health services and to develop a California plan for Alzheimer’s disease.
Dr. Lynch received his Ph.D. in Social and Behavioral Sciences from the University of California, San Francisco and an MPA from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. In addition to health administration, Dr. Lynch is involved in public policy and research activities related to health access for the uninsured, long term care models, chronic care, and financing care for disabled populations. Dr. Lynch is also a Lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley.
Heather Estes
Chief Executive Officer, Planned Parenthood Northern California
Heather Estes has a strong commitment to women’s health and holds graduate degrees in Social Work and Public Administration, specializing in both health care planning and administration. She began her work toward improving health care for women as a college student in 1971. For six years, she volunteered for a Planned Parenthood affiliate in Utica, New York and was eventually elected Secretary of their Board of Directors.
Heather assumed the leadership of Planned Parenthood Northern California in 1979, when she was just 25 years old and the affiliate had a total of three health centers, all in Contra Costa County. Through her strong and visionary leadership the organization grew from an affiliate with three health centers and a budget of $200,000 in 1979 to its current budget of $42 million, 20 health centers and multiple Satellite sites.
Heather is a well-known and respected leader in the Bay Area. She has served on numerous health care task forces and is a founding member of the Community Clinic Consortium which serves Contra Costa and Solano Counties.
